Summer 2015 Newsletter

Welcome to our first newsletter, we hope you find it an enjoyable read.

The launch of Vanessa Jane took place on Friday 31st July 2015, bringing two successful freelance businesses together ‘Blushing Bride by HCT’ and ‘Vanessa Jane MUA’. Creating an ultimate one stop for beauty, make-up & hair. Vanessa will continue to specialise in Bridal hair & make-up as well as teaching on a freelance basis in London for The Beauty Academy, where she is leading make-up tutor for advanced make-up courses.

Vanessa started out as a beauty therapist and soon fell into the world of make-up, with some amazing experiences such as leading MUA for several theatre productions such as Cinderella, Aladdin, Jack & the Beanstalk and Pinocchio. She also joined forces with a good friend to create The Bridal Team which led the talented duo to win The Wedding Retailer Award 2008. She later went it alone and created Blushing Bride by HCT were she was twice runner up in The Kent Wedding Awards.

Not happy sitting still, Vanessa continues to train in all areas of hair & beauty and now offers a full range of hair services including cutting & colouring.

Vanessa Jane will be offering bespoke master classes to those already working in the industry wanting to brush up on techniques, as well as those wanting to know how to use the contents of their own make-up bag correctly. Master classes will cover specific topics such as creating a flawless base, contouring and eye make-up to name a few. Or you can book a bespoke master class for you and your friends, learning the art of make-up whilst drinking bubbles and having nibbles.

Social media

With the launch of Vanessa Jane – Professional MUA & Hairdresser comes a new website. It is packed with information about Vanessa Jane, services available, prices and a gallery of photos showcasing Vanessa’s work from bridal, theatrical and teaching. We hope that you enjoy visiting the website and that your experience is a good one.
We also launched our new Facebook page where you can keep up to date with our latest projects, recommended products and industry news as well as Vanessa Jane’s special offers.

To celebrate the launch we will be giving away two spaces for our October master class. The first space goes to Louise Bradley-White who's name was pulled out of a 'cup' by James this morning. Congratulations Louise and we are very much looking forward to you joining our first master class in October.

Industry news

It’s great news to hear that two of Vanessa’s favourite brands (Make Up For Ever and ELF) will be returning to the UK. In recent years you could only purchase Make Up For Ever at IMATS or Guru Emporium in North London. 2015 has seen the return of the French brand to the UK, now concessions within Debenhams stores across the Country.
Make Up For Ever is a French cosmetics brand owned by LVMH. It was created in 1984 by make-up artist Dany Sanz. LVMH acquired the brand in 1999 and accelerated its growth.
ELF (Eyes Lips Face) is an international cosmetics brand based in New York City. Founded by Joseph Shamah and Scott Vincent Borba in 2004. This brand is hard to beat as the prices are so cheap. Their foundations are one of our favourites and we use them as much as we use our MAC studio fix. Sadly ELF pulled out of the UK but we believe the demand was too great and we shall see the return of this fantastic brand later in 2015.

On trend

It seems that baked make-up is the latest craze among the beauty industry. With brands such as Laura Mercier, NYX, MAC, Stila and Urban Decay selling some amazing shadows and blushers even high street brands like Revolution are starting to follow the trend.

So what makes baked products different?

The formulation of baked products uses less talc and more pigment making it easier to blend. It can be applied wet or dry, it starts out as liquids which is then baked into solid powders often with a marbled appearance. As these powders are not pressed like normal eye shadows and blushers they are far less likely to crumble.
Let us know what you think about baked products and which are your favourites?
